Despite the strike ban,
metal workers who have resisted for 33 days have won!

The strike of GE Grid Solutions workers who have resisted in front of the factory in Gebze for 33 days despite President Erdoğan's strike ban has also ended in victory. Birleşik Metal-İş announced the agreement.

Metal workers who are members of the Birleşik Metal-İş Union, who could not reach an agreement with the Turkish Metal Industrialists' Union (MESS) at the collective bargaining table, have won despite President Tayyip Erdoğan's strike ban.

They were among the 1,500 metal workers who spent New Year's Eve in strike tents!

The union president stated that an agreement was reached with the approval of the striking workers and announced that the average wage in the workplace will be 54,300 TL net as of September 1, 2024, according to the 27 percent tax bracket with the Collective Labor Agreement. The offers that harmed the workers were withdrawn

The President's statement is as follows:

"Metal workers made history once again. We did not recognize the unfair and unlawful strike ban. We have been continuing our strike for 33 days. An agreement was reached as a result of the negotiations with MESS. With the signed collective labor agreement, the average wage in the workplace became 54,300 TL net according to the 27 percent tax bracket as of September 1, 2024.

Significant gains were made in social rights. MESS's imposition of a 3-year Collective Labor Agreement and flexible offers were withdrawn. No concessions were made in acquired rights.

Thus, a collective labor agreement was signed in another factory where our members continued their resistance against the unlawful strike ban."
