Ekoloji Birliği

Ekoloji Birliği (Ecology Union) was established on the basis of a series of meetings held in 2017 -2018. Ekoloji Birliği, which united 42 organizations and movements during the first steps of its establishment, today consists of more than 80 components from all over Turkey. In its founding declaration it states:

"In our struggle to protect the life-giving existence of nature and our living spaces all over Turkey, we declare that we have established ekoloji Birliği to strengthen our efforts to defend life and save the future with joint action...

The Ekoloji Birliği will be one of the grounds for the strengthening of resistance, sprouting in new places, also for the strengthening our will to defend life in this dark period that our country is in. Our aim is to increase solidarity between organizations, to protect human rights together and stronger, and on this basis, to wage a struggle to defend nature and life also by taking sides with the rights of nature."

• The basic of ekoloji Birliği is local ecological struggles and organizations. We see all local ecological struggles and organizations as our natural components and invite them to the Ecology Union to struggle together.

• We produce the ecological struggle and the politics of life defense in our own areas, independent of political programs and regulations.

• We aim for those who defend life to heal each other's wounds and to be in solidarity with each other. We will stand side by side with those who strive for the democratization of the country, the liberation of labor, and the dominance of peace.

• The Ekoloji Birliği aims not only for the coming together of existing ecological organizations, but also for the struggle ground of ecological and local movements that are developing day by day.

• We know that there are no borders in nature. We will seek ways to meet, work together, and cooperate with life defenders who struggle against the same problems all over the world. Because their struggle is our struggle.

• We advocate meeting the material burden of ekoloji Birliği struggle with our own strength. We believe that the struggle can be carried out not with money but with collective labor, devotion and solidarity.

• We have seen many times how the law is trampled underfoot and how the cases we have won with years of labor and expense are eliminated with a single stroke. Despite this, we will not give up on the law and our demand for the fair application of the law.
