Polonez workers on hunger strike
Workers at the Polonez Gıda Factory in Çatalca, Istanbul - where 354 people are employed - organized against harsh working conditions, low wages, and excessive overtime.
They joined the Tek Gıda İş union. After the company dismissed many workers for their union membership, the union declared a strike.

On the 140th day of the strike, the workers set out on a "Constitutional Right" march toward the capital, Ankara. The police intervened violently against the resisters,
surrounded the workers, and encircled their protest tents. It has been learned that at least five workers were detained with their hands cuffed behind their backs.
In response, the workers went on a hunger strike until their route to march is opened and the detained workers are released.
