The Reserve Area Decisions
of the Kanal İstanbul Project Canceled.
The 5th Administrative Court of Istanbul has canceled the reserve area decisions and the Environmental Master Plan, which had been made since 2012, deeming them to be in violation
of urban planning principles and the law.
With this ruling on the cancellation of the reserve area decisions, all other plans related to Kanal İstanbul have lost their legal foundation. As a result of this decision, the entire
planning and implementation process of the Kanal İstanbul Project must be reconsidered.
The court's decision not only proves that the Kanal İstanbul project is inconsistent with the principle of public interest due to its environmental impacts, infrastructure problems, and
potential harm to natural resources, but also influences the outcome of other lawsuits related to the project.
