The local people in Lice district of Diyarbakır have begun resistance against the copper mine project planned to be built by the Dimin Mining company. Arguing that the project will harm nature
and residential areas, the locals came together in Mirzag (Kılıçlı) village and held a rally. The protest led by women emphasized that the mine threatens the ecosystem and livelihoods of the
region.

Citizens voiced their reactions to the copper mine project planned to be built in the area covering Akçabudak, Kılıçlı, Bayırlı and other neighborhoods of Lice. Women from the villages in the
region joined the protest and expressed their reactions to the project by saying, "They are taking our mountains and lands from us. We will not accept this project even if we die." Arguing that
the mine will harm the environment and the local economy, the citizens stated that the legal process has been initiated to stop the project.
Diyarbakır Deputy Lawyer Serhat Eren stated that the project will negatively affect the lives of the people in the region and said, "This project is an attack on the livelihoods of the people
living in those lands. The people of the region are being displaced." He also stated that the government is ignoring the interests of the people for capital gains.
The people of Lice continue their resistance by emphasizing the damage the mining project will cause to both nature and the lives of the local people. While various civil society organizations
and professional chambers in the region are also supporting the people, it is stated that the legal struggle against the project will continue.
