From the press release of the ANP Executive Board

"In December 2019, the Review and Evaluation Commission of the Sinop Nuclear Power Plant project held an information meeting for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report in Ankara. Some of the Anti-Nuclear Platform (ANP) representatives were not allowed into the meeting hall. We, ANP members, do not accept an EIA meeting that does not take into account the opinions of the surrounding people as legitimate. We, the ANP components, declare: We will not allow you to build a nuclear power plant in our country, neither in Sinop, nor in Mersin, nor in İğneada...

In the past, February 2018 in Sinop allso a Public Information Meeting was held to introduce the EIA report of the Sinop Nuclear Power Plant project. And despite all our objections, the people of Sinop were not allowed into the meeting. Security forces set up barriers around the conference hall so that the public could not enter the hall where the information meeting would be held. They prevented the people from approaching. When we, who were not allowed into the hall, came to the Sinop Governorship to explain the situation and submit a petition, we were greeted with tear gas, TOMAs and night sticks. This is how this one-sided report was prepared..."
